The ‘My Constituency’ iPad app has beencreated in the House of Commons Library to display key statisticsfor each constituency area. There are 650 Members of Parliament(MPs) in the UK House of Commons. Each MP is elected by voters in650 constituency areas. Currently 533 constituencies in England, 59in Scotland, 40 in Wales and 18 in Northern Ireland. Datasets inthe app include election results, unemployment, youth unemploymentand population, child poverty, wages and two new datasetsNew• House Prices (in England & Wales) dataset• Foreign Born UK Residents datasetImprovements• Changes to app navigation and UX• Inclusion of new filter bar menu for interrogating datasets• Custom map tiles with improved rendering performance• Statistics homescreen indicating latest news for a dataset• Add to stored constituencies from all datasets and the mapscreenYou can find out and compare results from one area to anotherand against the region or the UK as a whole. The information isdisplayed in bar charts and line graphs. These statistics can thenbe shared to either your Facebook or Twitter timeline. You can alsouse My Constituency’s map to find out about a constituency andthose around it.The datasets are produced by House of Commons Librarystatisticians using a variety of authoritative sources includingthe Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Department forWork and Pensions. The unemployment figures are updated monthly andwith other statistics updated annually.The House of Commons Library provides impartial information andresearch services for Members of Parliament and their staff insupport of their parliamentary duties.
